ahh shit. I finally bought a 20gig iPod, sunofabitch is formatting, and has been for like 50 minutes ! is that normal ? It's plugged into the USB port right now.. how long should this take ?

yeah, actually shit on the ipod got pretty fucked up. I disconnected it when I wasn't supposed to, and then tried to use the ipod updater reformat.. didn't work, gave me a really hard time. So I went and returned it and got another one. She's charging as we speak.
almost got an ibook in the process.

should I really just buy a firewire card ? Is it really that worth it ? I know it's so much faster.. but doesn't anyone do this with usb 2.0 ? hm. I guess I have a compu smart right by my house... I have always wanted firewire.
