How much do new designers make?

well... after you've interned for about... ohhhh... 2 years - you then (if you get hired) start at about 14k a year - this may include donuts on friday.

now a days i think it is based on experience and talent.
You can have 10 years in the field but if you stink you wont go anywhere, at the same time people with lots of talent move up faster.
Said that, it depends of how much experience you aquired in school and how much talent you have.
A good start would be an internanship and go from there.

basically you make sh*t. you're entry level. no offense. I did the same when entering that world of HTML and Photoshop. I don't even do that stuff anymore, and, by far and away, it makes me more money.

Is it true that fledgling Designers in London have to work for free? Someone dispell the myth for me.

well when you say free. graduates in london can get payed anywhere from £15k upwards. which is kinda equivalent to free
