so my boss wants me to add some cheesyass photoshop effects to a illustrator logo i'm designing. because the company uses technology, he wants the logo to look hi tech. how do i convince him that we're not in 1999 anymore?

dude, there's nothing wrong with adding photoshop effects to a logo... just make the original really huge, like 50inches x 50 inches.
Save the effects as a eps and place it behind the illustrator art you already have.As long as you know how-when- and professionally use effects, it's cool.

serious now.. http://www.wxs-consultancy.nl/ see the coin in the topright corner? (the lines look a wee bit fucked in flash somehow)
it's all made with illy only and pure vectors (not this preview though) as it is part of their logo..
you can achieve a lot of ps effects by using vectors only..

yeah i should... i dont know why i dont leave. he wants the work to be cutting edge, but doesn't know that cutting edge is so pre-1999

tell him you can make it bleeding edge..
