this is very dumb... im a noob.
how do i make a mask to cover up things in other layers? it seems like if i make a new layer it doesnt mask the objects in other layers...

uhhm combine the layers in a precomp and than mask the precomp?

umm u can mask things in the same layer that ur object is in
if u add a mask and go into ur timeline and drop down the mask there is ur mask properties hope this helps if not im sorry....

the only issue i have wth making the mask within the same layer as object is
1. the mask moves with the object
2. id rather have one mask take care of all the layers than to make 15 masks...
how to i combine as precomp?

ok im dealing with the precomp

click on the layers you need than do shift+apple+c
and mark leave all attributes in this comp
