does anyone know what the standard is for the number of colours? is it 256? or millions?

in creating a windows xp app icon (32x32) does it have to be a specific colour depth?
is that clearer?

opensource photoshop fileformat plugin to read and write .ico files
http://www.telegraphics.com.au/s…Windows XP can have 8bit RGB + alpha so thats 32bit max
