adobe "classroom in a book" series is pretty good as I recall. I assume they still publish them.

thanks. for the tips.
i'm very familiar with illustrator and all of the tools.
i'm really looking for some tricks or examples of how specific looks are achieved. continue with the tips. it's great help.

i found that once i had most of the shortcuts worked out and remembered, my workflow improved alot.
the Help feat. in illustrator is also often overlooked, but it offers great help too.
other than that, it's really just practice ..

What specifically are you looking for?
I'd say trial & error is the best way to learn, by the way.

There's a great book out that covers all different styles of art using illustrator.
Each chapter has a different artist, describing their style and the techniques used. There's also a step by step guide at the end of the chapter to recreate some of the artwork.
i don't have it in the studio with me today, so i can't remember the name. but i'll check when I get home.
if you feel like searching through amazon, it has a snow skier on the cover. I picked up my copy at barnes & noble for around 40 bucks.

What do you mean by "tricks" ?Do you mean style?
Look at the work out there, find a style that interests you and then make it your own.

I'm not looking for anything specific. Just some how to's to give me ideas. You don't know what you can do until you know what you can do.
I guess if it would be one thing I would like to learn about would be tricks to convert raster images or parts of them to vectore shapes. Right now I just use Photoshop and export paths, but it creates too many individual points.
Thanks for the help again everyone!
