Go and check out "Studiometry" from http://www.oranged.net/
I used to do it with Excel sheets but you easyly lose track of time... Studiometry keeps times, invoices, contacts, quotes, payments, ... Very handy for a freelancer...

i just write it down on scraps of paper or sticky ntoes and attach them around my computer screen. probably not th ebest way to do it... but it works.

Keeps track of multiple jobs, works out price you should charge (based on hours worked) and is free.

or i take the amount i wanna get paid and divide by some arbitrary hourly rate
