Long battle. but do you think there is a need to learn both?
OR one, and for what reasons?
- nografik0
not really, stick with the one you feel most comfortable with...
i like cimema 4d

whatever works best for you. there are def many cons and pros but it's just a tool. it's all about what you do with it.

well according to emecks' belief about my sexuality, I'm gonna' have to say Max.

if you can pay both Max and Maya you should hire somebody to do the 3d for you

i learned Maya in college, but quickly found out that alot of smaller companies use Max, so i learned that and never looked back.

(Apr 21 05, 07:48)Yeah well I learned about Maya in college too, but she always threw me out Sunday morning to the ugly 'Walk of Shame'.

I use both at work and i must say max is too damm mechanical and tedious.
learn maya instead, which is more intuitive.

it really depends on what you want to do. If you wanna be in the professional 3d animation field, max is fairly useless, but for smaller companies and design studios, max is probably the way to go.

i never did understand people's loyalty to software. give me a task, and whatever overpriced piece of software your company uses, and I am going make my art, and obsess over it, and create a masterpiece.
its me, its not the software that makes it look so good.

mogwai: yeah but try modelling a full human body in some piece of shit like wift 3d.
anyway, XSI is an amazing piece of software, and i''ll be the first to recommend it, though i thoguht this was max vs. maya
- toastie0
oh, then i can plug my favourite modelling app too
it also happens to be free and opensource
