like the fellahs said, neighbourhood and fabric are both good. sometimes there are fantastic parties on at se1, as well. you should check out:

cafe boheme in soho is cheap for what it is.
metcalf in exmouth market, same. but neither are as cheap as gallipoli (and it's pretty darn good). and it's on the northern line, so that's good for you...

Wonderful little place. Good food and atmosphere and it's nto too pricey at all. Make sure you ask for the Original Gallioplis as there's a fwe others now, all on upper street but the first is the best.

The Market Porter, Borough, is great for an afternoon sesh after gorging yourself on the delicious food in Borough Market.
