photoshop weirdness

i hope someone can help me figure this out. for some reason my clone tool doesnt work. i dont get it.
im using it on a layer (yes something is on the layer) and it just wont clone! i push alt+click for my spot, and try to clone, and nothing. not a thing. ?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?
anyone got any ideas or am i doing something stupid

are you using the clone tools opacity at like 1% or somehing?

nothing selected, no marquee, no layers locked. i duplicated the layer i was trying to do the cloning on and it works on the duplicate. weird.

the layer in question covers the entire document, so yes it is visible.
guess it was a bug.
