Wondering how you can pause an entire movie, similar to this:
http://www.qosmio.com/index.html…
When you click on "360 Tour" it launches a pop-up, and the base movie stops dead. Any thought/advice/code would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I don't see a stop button anyway.

?
There is no stop button. The flash movie stops when you click 360 Tour.

Am I missing something here? Because it just goes to a new URL.

hence index.html becomes 360.html...please tell me this isn't what you're talking about.

think OOP [Object Oriented Programming]. Every object [mc, sound, ....] has a stop/reset/finish method. If not, you should always make one.
Just list all this methods in a major _root function and initiate when necessary.

To build upon what Anarchitect was saying, it's easy enough to make every MC in your movie, with a single line of code, add itself to a master array. If you need to stop/play/reverse anything, you just run a loop through the master-array.

good advice, thank you. i'm consulting my Essential AS 2.0 book right now. i'm more of a designer than aprogrammer, but i like to know my way around AS whenever possible. Thanks again.

you dont have to get all OOP or using complex AS2 equations. all you need is lay your movie in the time line and it will stop when you need it.

that would would, but i have some looping animations that are nested in MC's, so i need a function to stop everything.
