Went to see the premiere of a climbing movie in Boulder last night with a friend from work who is a big climber and who I ride with every weekend. I have never in my life climbed before but that movie inspired me in ways I cannot quite comprehend.
By the way when I mean climbing I mean stuff like this:
and this:
Anyone who climbs here have any pointers? First thing I need to do is drop 15 pounds and get my upper body strength back.
But damn this is gona be fun

You're in Boulder. Look out the window - there's your gym.
Best training for climbing is climbing, Nic. I'll whip your ass into shape in no time.

Spent a lot of time climbing in junior high school with the sierra club. climbed in yosemite, nor cal, etc.
Buy some shoes and do some bouldering or go with friends with experience and gear to find out if your really into it. It can get expensive.
create a fake wall in your garage and do two fingered pull ups.

buy these mout em where ever they work and do the finger pull ups kld suggested

From the creators of Front Range Freaks, an inspired filmic collage featuring mind-blowing climbing and adventure footage from around the globe. Great giveaways, raffles and signings. Also a look into the best of Utah's desert crack climbing. Swiss climbing star Didier Berthod's first ascent of the hardest crack in Indian Creek!

used to climb 5.10's and was working on trying 5.11 but never got that good. I ended up blowing out some fingers and had to quite a few years ago.
I still climb at the gym every once in a while.
I've also been ice climbing in Alaska.
Climbing is VERY addicting.

i dabbled in it for a bit... i'm told i have teh perfect frame for it, but it doesn't hold my interest enough... not enough of an adrenaline charge for me personally.
climbers come from all over the world to climb the Stawamus Chief in Squamish BC... about 30mins south of Whistler and about an hour from downtown Vancouver.
Squamish is known for its world class climbing conditions... I'm sure your buddy has probably heard of it.
