Can anyone recomend an affordable sound editing application? I need it for basic sound design for Flash and other Multimedia projects.

Mac, you can use Logic or Pro Tools, but that might be too much as they are built more for sequencing that anything else.

I forgot to also mention that it will be for a Mac - OS X.

Anyone ever uses Peak? Good/Bad? Also would Logic Express be sufficient?

it's ridiculously easy to make serviceable and entertaining music in apple soundtrack

Peak is good from what I have heard. What are you trying to do exactly. Just slice up audiop files and fade them in and out, compress them and bring up their levels, etc.?
Logic Express, if free, should suffice.

for mono or stereo file editing, peak is the best imo.
logic express would be good for sequencing or mixing multiple files or tracks, but you'd still want peak for hardcore editing of individual files

you guys would quite all those apps, if Sony built Sound Forge for Macs. Sad they don't

can u not do what u need to in Garage band? or even sound edit? if that is still part of ox's os

most audio seequencers do have an edit module. even Flash has a basic one so yes, you should be able to do it with your default audio sequencer
