Hey there,
i'm applying for a new job in broadcast graphics and i have to send a showreel with the form.
Maybe i'm being over-cautious, but i've just got into a panic about how long it should be (4 mins 30 sec at the mo) so the people dont get bored.
Does anyone know what the standard length generally is, and any other info that may be useful.
Cheers guys and gals

i think its more quality than quantity, its best to have 60 secs of quality than 3 mins of crap.

im puting one together of my new collaborators work and i'll be making a:
15sec, 30sec, 60sec, and 90sec version
best to only hit the hightlights
for you no longer than 2 min i guess

My reel out of collage was about a minute and a half, but it doesn't matter how long it is if you dont have what it takes after the first 15 seconds all their going to do is hit eject....

i don't care how good your stuff is, if i'm having to evaluate as much as five or ten potentials, i don't want to have to sit through much more than a minute or two. so if you do make it long - don't save the best for last!

No longer than a minute and a half.
You got a link to it online? I'd like to check it out.
There's a Showcase section over at Mograph.net, you should post your reel over there and let it get critiqued before you send it out to potential clients. They'll point out things you would never think of.
Well worth the learning experience.
