hi,
when i import a video file into flash, is there anyway of controlling the sound at runtime, like let the user turn it on and off?

since you are bringing that file in as one, I'm not too sure you can do that. however, you might be able to, better you include the video and then put the sound in somewhere and control it with AS.

create a new sound object.
then control that sound object that will mute or allow your sound to play.
i think it is like:
newSound = new Sound();
volumeoff function() {
newSound.volume = 0;
}turnvolumeoffMC.onRelease = function() {
volumeoff();
}and viceversa.

you mean spliiting the video and sound and importing as two separate files?
could work, but will it still synchronize ok you reckon?i was wondering if there was some nice clean coding to control sound in flash video.

thanks fusionpixel, found a way to do it.
create an empty movieclip and ad a sound object to it.
load the flash video into the empty movie clip.you can then control the video sound via the sound object in the empty movie clip.
works fine for me!
