flash html type ?

bad type html
Thanks in advance for any ideas.This is a scrolling text box with the copy as html in the actions. Most of it looks right but here and there there is a line with squished, tight text.

Have you tried another font or another version of the same font? Looking at that block of text, the font looks really crap - the kerning is really bad all over the place. Also try changing the text areas line spacing and see if that helps seeing it's only effecting one line of type.

hey man,
if you going to use html text i would go the whole hog if you haven't already and use the text field class to style up your text.
if your having spacing trouble I would have a look at this page there apears to be hack to get some leading into your text.
hope theres better css control in the next version of flash :D

I agree this looks pretty poor, but seems to be the best way for a scrolling box. Is there any better way? Hopefully where the type doesnt have to be html?

Why don't you maje the site HTML because nothing there is animated . And than there is no problem with text fonts.
Your scrolling isn't realy smooth. You can easely attach some scrolling code to your textfield.

I wholeheartedly disagree with that statement. I think most of it looks like puke. I find the absolute best way to do scrolling text in Flash is to make all of the text in Photoshop and save it as a transparent gif image, then use the gif image as your scrolling text. If this text needs to be updated dynamically then this is not the best solution, but scrolling gifs take a lot less time and processor power to render than thousands of vectors.

Totally agree. the whole thing looks like assholes. but...
