For webdesign, I'd say Fireworks...

For webdesign dreamweaver and flash

why not all?
a good mechanic has every tool for every car not just foreign or domestic

i am very biased and to top that i haven't touched fireworks in ages but what web related features are so essential that you would use it instead of PS?
I looked fast at fireworks and the only thing i would like in PS is the custom anti aliasing but i have other solutions for that so not worth a whole other application. http://www.macromedia.com/softwa…
Originally ImageReady was intended for Adobe's web imagery but i haven't used that one in a long time either.

fireworks = slices
photoshop = everything else
- Hym0
and you dont like adobe's way of doing slices because ?
i dont really even know how its done in fireworks :)

Few pro's I see with using FW:
- FW sees all on the stage as objects rather than layers, which makes selecting things much faster than in PS (just click on it)
- you can use your frames as different stages of your design, or as multiple sketches within one document, very handy
- you can make object into symbols and use them throughout your document, as in flash, quite handy!
- use vector shapes works a bit easier than in PS, I feel...
- Integrates seemlessly with flash too btw

that is possible in PS also

ctrl click to select any layer in ps

Fireworks = layout and exporting optimization.
Photoshop = anything else for the images.

In PS you can't draw a selection with your mouse which just selects, in one go, everything in it... like you can in, for instance, Illustrator... that's what I mean with objects instead of layers... in PS you have to select everything one after another, unless you directly select layers from the layer palette, which I find quite a workaround...

in CS2 you can just click the layers(objects) you want selected with ctrl-shift, and then move the multiple selected
maybe the illustrator like marquee tool you want is in the next version

I can't understand why photoshop keeps using those nasty redundant spacer cell rows instead of nested tables which fireworks's been offering for years
