michel gondry's brother does a lot of stuff with compositing.. he actually wrote the script/plugin to use on this video.. along with the white stripes' "fell in love with a girl" video (yes.. some of it was legos.. but a good deal was a plugin)
no.. it's not the easiest thing to do.. and honestly though.. i wouldn't consider this one of the stand out pieces of michel gondry's.. (look at pieces like bachelorette or army of me) hell.. eternal sunshine anyone?

i think the main diff between cunningham and gondry..
is cunningham = eye candy
gondry = creative thinking with visuals (deeper meanings to what's on screen)

the morph effect is not very impressive but it's innovative use is, from a technology standpoint the whole video was already possible when Michael Jackson did that black or white video, just a pain in the ass since processing and editing was slow back then.
can be done everywhere currently but doing it like Gondry still requires a lot manual labour and great direction skills.
oh and i will have to go for cunningham but thats a very subjective matter
