If I buy a real shit 70s 10-speed, like an old beater, and lock it up outside every night, will it get stolen? I live on the UES in Manhattan and don't have room for storage. Where do you keep your bike?

I use to park my bike on the UWS (around 87th street) for a year and it didn't get stolen. I moved to the 50's and it got stolen in a couple of months. It's a bit of a gamble, but a beater bike locked up properly will reduce your odds significantly.
- Was it a decent bike? I live in the low 60s. Maybe I'll find somewhere just off Park Ave to lock it and hope for the best.nb
