alright, yeah yeah, new to flash, trying to pick up some pieces. just look at this I guess. I don't know why the font always seems to use an anti-alias when it's a layer in a movie clip. I'm sure it's something really simple, and it will get a few laughs, but it's getting my goat.

you need to make sure you txt field is on an even pixel location, ie an x/y of 5.0/2.0 instead of 5.1/2.6....
see if that helps

alright, another idiotic question that someone will hopefully answer. I've been scouring my actionscript book, but of no avail, I don't even know what to look for.
I have a main timeline, and in one of the layers I have a movieclip called "loader" in "loader" I have several different frame labels, like, category 1, category 2 etc.
so in the main timeline, I have buttons that I want to trigger these frames in "loader"..
so on the buttons, I am using ..
on(release) {
gotoAndPlay ( ____________ );
}but nothing seems to be able to trigger this movie clips frames..
help out ?

target the movieclip as such:
loader.gotoAndPlay("category1");

I agree with less is more. I was pretty torn on this one. I have so many versions I started, I wanted it to be a single pager, but wanted something a little stylish too. I don't know. Freelance projects that I've worked on have been alot of what clients want, and alot of what I don't want.
so I figured I need to have something to show what I can do on my own terms.. So later clients might put a little more trust in my abilities.
anyways, enough ranting.
