Does anyone knows where to limit users to connect to a NETGEAR router?
I just moved to an appartment complex and before all the neighbors start leaching i want to set it up. any help appreciated

you should be able to set it up with encryption between computer and router thus blocking anyone without the necessary encryption settings.

just set up a password protected network. easy pie!

but isnt this set up in the router itself rather than a closed network? I forgot to point out that I have a wireless router so anyone with a wireless connection in my range gets free internet at the moment

there are setting within your routers control panel that allow you to set up WEP

you wont notice.
You can also set the Access Control so that it only allows access to computers with the ethernet addresses you specify

look in the help section of your router config and search for 'mac address' It adds another layer of security to your network.

and, script kiddie wardrivers can break wep pretty easily. i would suggest, if your router is new enough to research and use one of the other encryption protocols.
and, mac filtering is an absolute must.
deny all but the defined devices.

yeah, I will need to do a further search later tonight, because I already kicked myself from the router twice and had to reset it.
