i already made my table, and it turned out pretty good i think
i made it as a big flat hollow box, with the bottom out of wood and the top out of aluminum, there i drilled god knows how may tiny holes in it, and then i hooked it up with an old vacuum cleaner so it sucks the paper to the table like the real deal, it seens to be working out pretty good, so now i need to figure out how to make it stop sucking when i lift up the frame again.. but it should be a matter of details .. man, i need for spare time for this stuff.. it's gonna be much fun getting off the computer like you said and get some ink on my hands again
forgive me, it's been 6 years since my last screenprint.

d/e, I am so stoked that you decided to do this too. We used to have a vacuum table we made back in the day. how we stopped the vacuum was by making a porthole in the side of the box and plugging it with a rubber plunger, when you wanted the suction to stop, without turning off the vac, just pull the plunger off of the porthole. It was pretty ramshackle, but it did the trick.

we used one of those doorknob drillbits to make the big whole in the side. that shop vac was louder than hell. between the noise of the vac and the toxic fumes of the solvent-based ink, I think I shaved 5 years off of my life, but we made some wicked stickers.

back then i got fed up with it, because i was always looking at the stuff i was printing thinking i could do it alot better that the shit the guy behind the computer was doing, so i moved behind it too, but it feels good getting into it again specially when you have control over it from start to beginning.
the idea with the porthold sounds like an idea, i have next week off so i'm gonna play with some different solutions..
i'll make sure to post some pics of the print too once i get it up and running and get some prints out of it..

yeah! we should swap some print once i get started, now i just have to find a little printshop where i can make my own frame and cleaning too..
btw, my life is properly shortend too, i remember standing smoking while printing with toxic ink and cleaning frames with acetone without gloves or anything..
ask me if i was sweating when i had my little boy last year..
first thing i checked was if the weener was there, then arms, legs, fingers and toes..
i'm lucky he got it all ;)
