Damm annoying, my laptop reverts to what I assume is an energy saving state when I run it from the batteries, the scren goes dim and it virtually unusable, how can I disable it?

are you running on windows? if so, from the energy options via control panel.

I have tried via the power options tab but there is only options to monitor/hard drive off if inactive, can't find anything about the screen dimming.
