algorithm, go digital. Canon leads the way in digital SLR technology.
Right now, for a grand, the best DSLR you can purchase would be the latest Digital Rebel (XT) AKA Canon EOS 350D.
You can read more about it here http://www.dpreview.com/articles…
if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me.

bah, don't listen to him... the R1A1 is where its at.
- dan_dan_dan0
Well, yeah--if your after analog, then your surely not looking at Canon. They don't match up to the R1A1.
But digital; Canon can't be beat.

ill be the Nikon advocate for the day.
I 've shot with a Nikon n90s for the past 5 years. SOLID rig, never broke, and you can buy em used for like 500 these days.
the new replacement for the n90s is the F100 - never used it myself, but from what I hear it's a solid body as well .
Leica if you can afford it.
Canon owns digital, but I think Nikon and Leica still own the SLR market.rock

I've got a n90s as well and I've seen them as low as $200-300. Ebay has a ton of them. shooting with a d1x now and I love it.

Nikon D70s and D50 manuals have slipped off their website today. No big changes in the 70Ds (from D70), but the rumor is D50 will be the cheapest dslr on the market.
And speaking of the oh so unexpected 'slip', it's probably Nikon viral marketing I'm taking part in now. But sure the cameras are coming. More on http://dpreview.com forums

I would say Ourcommon has it right with Analog SLR. A long time professional photographer friend of mine swears by Nikon.
There are other great DSLR's, no doubt; Canon however, at the moment, has a lead in the market with an 8mpx CMOS and the Digic II processor.
Can't be beat really.

I'd love to have that lens(10.5mm) and a few others, like a 17-55mm, 300mm...
