Are words REALLY necessary?

I see a lot of things like.. "Our Philosophy" or "Approach..." How necessary is all that. You show your work, assure them you're not an asshole by a note from your mum on the front page, voila!

Exactly - and you have to insure that you know you're thinking outside the box, by being on the cutting edge willing to create some kind of synergy with a client in a marketing space. It's all about the words, boy. All about the words.

I read those and think... Yeah, right. You're easy to work with and you are a creative guy. The work should speak for itself. I've sold big jobs before, and it all seems to have come down to the quality of our work and if it could be done in on time and on budget. Anything else is suprifilous. What are some good examples of what to say w/o sounding like BS?

ha ha, oh dear god I remember cutting a pitch for some guys and they got me to put a caption up that said 'occasionality'. Does this really even exist.

no doubt there is always a little BS involved, but in my experience it does not matter what yr folio is like if the client does not like you then they will not work with you or working becomes difficult. these sections help to alieviate [sp?] this intially.
but as you said it is v transparent when you work in the industry...but hey all sales are!!!!! whatever industry
