does anyone like their new cd?
at first i didnt think it was better than their first, but the more i listen to it, the more i love it. its so friggn good.anyone agree? disagree??
- F_180
agree.
much tighter and more melodic, they're more focused on the music than all the extra filler.

the most important band of the decade.

i love the first 5 songs, the rest seems like filler

uhm, there are only 5 songs on their new cd.... are you talking about their last cd? or being sarcastic?
they are the most important band of the decade.

there are like 5 threads going on about this band and i dont get them.. really? they worhip Rush but dont have the talent. i'll keep trying them though.

i ripped the cd into itunes, there are like 12 tracks. i know they are named 1 a b c d etc.
im saying i like the first 5 tracks i guess. and i miss at the drive in. also, i dont think they are the most important band of the decade.

It's already the most riveting album of 2005--provided you're ready to carve a wide enough hole in your consciousness to accept it.

sucks

agree.
film clip to the widow is kinda 'Un Chien Andalou' wouldn't you say?

I miss at the drive-in too. The Mars Volta is just not as good. Too rush meets "meddle" era floyd. Not not most important band of the decade.

Any band that has some people say "They fuckin' rock" and has another group of people go "oh my god - they suck!" will be destined for great things.
I grew up on shit like Yes and Kansas and King Crimson and Zep. If I had to listen to one more 20 minute psychadelic trip out I would kill myself - but damn if the Mars boys don't rock the form. Color me surprised and color me a fan...

exactly... if you have massive groups yappin' it sucks- that is success for the band.
Maybe that's why At the Drive In was so popular- because I was one of those who felt and still do that they "sucked" every freakin song had the same jumpy feel- it sounded like a "wanna be" band from sound to looks.
Mars Volta = great
At the Drive In = lame

i think they show a lot of promise, but that new record is just too dense for my taste. sounds like jane's addiction crossed with parliment (which ain't bad at all)
i look forward to a little less testosterone and a little more song from them
