This is the follow up to a logo I reworked after a critique here. It is probono for a friends company.

After showing this to a fellow designer though he commented that it looked similar to the Sunbelt logo.

Do you think they are too similar - to where I should scrap this concept all together?
- tny0
no way, keep it
- Jaline0
I don't think they're too similar
- tank0
not similar.
- spongebob0
keep.

I think they are "similar", in symbol and name i.e. sun.
But they are not similar in "industry".
Your current redevelopment identity for SunSpot is a great improvement over the few designs you began with.
Nice work.
- gruntt0
not.
keep.
nice.

thanks, I didn't want to scrap but a comment like that in development makes you question the whole concept. Do you think the typography is to light for a construction logo?
I'm having trouble finding a heavier font that has those angles.

I think your type choice does communicate construction. It's fine.
- ivan_cook0
looks good. keep it.
- dbloc0
the burst does look similar with the angled points, and the fact that sun is in both company names is a buzz kill.
similar, but probably different enough not to scrap it.

Real nice
- pablito0
yours is nicer.
- swollenelbow0
word. keep it.
- instantok0
it's like a big old bulldozer tire and a circular saw blade all in one and makes me say yay!

the new version is really good. it just looks like it's an updated version.
