not trying to start a war here, but i'm getting tired of Texas and in July i'm probably gonna up and leave.
So far i'm thinking of one of these 2 cities. will need to find work in design and my wife works as a geologist. we are both americans.
should i flip a coin?

come to toronto
- dippy0
why would you start a war by saying that?
- Tara0
why is that starting a war? duh
have you been to both cities?
hang out in each a bit
- dippy0
uh, also, you're in Austin, which is a pretty kickin city, I hear. Tara is right -- spend a bit of time in each and then decide.
- derek20050
yea, go to both cities...go on mini-vacations to both...
then make your desision

by war, i meant that i was looking for a bit more than locals saying that their city was the best.
:-)
trying to find out a bit about ease of living and finding work in each.
i visit NYC often, but never Toronto.

go to Vancouver
WAY better choice

toronto is much more european, and clean.
it really depends on your flava

I would look for jobs first in both and let the outcome dictate....

van city kicks ass

i'd love to visit Toronto, but my lease is up here in July and i probably won't have time before then.
Do you think it would be difficult to find proffesional work in Toronto as Americans?

nova scotia! duh!
wouldja think?! gad.
- derek20050
toronto has lots of work right now

Honestly, I think you and your girl would have way more opportunity in NYC.

Geology and Web Design? Hmmm, Im thinking maybe Denver or Salt Lake City, not TO or NYC. You got the legal right to work in CA?
In NYC she could work for the Metro or teach at a school.
- dippy0
hmm... jevad is right. You've already been to NYC and so you know what you'd be getting yourself into. Hahaha. So let the job dictate where you end up.

in all honesty, since you are americans and need work, your better off in NYC. austin is a VERY sleepy town, so nyc will be a kick in the pants for you as there will be literally 100s of oppotunities for you to refine you career and work. after that, toronto is only a short plane ride away.
- ivan_cook0
yeah, i was thinking NYC would be easier.

that makes 2 texans and like 50 other NTers moving to NY. pretty soon, nyc drinks sessions will have to be broken up by district...

Don't come to Toronto, unless you want your creativity to go in the shitter. Montreal is better, but the work is even harder to get. BC is nice, but it's really just the land of failed Torontonians..
