I'd say - what the fuck does the congress have to do with personal family matters?
Her legal guardian is her husband - case fucking closed.

but we mere human beings have no right to take another humans's life
only god can!!it is a moral responsibility...even poor mr. bush is cutting short his weekend and flying back tmw morning to sign the crap.

haha
did you read the other news about the policy which was passed which would make it OK for USA to make a preemptive strike if it feels USA is in danger.talk about saving lives.

what a wonderful world we live in eh?

keeping her alive costs money, alot of money. so does every case like hers. how much money could that possibly be? probably alot more that we realize.
i think she should be allowed to die.
her life's government ecomonic value is not worth the constaint emotional strain and financial burden of the family.
in nature she would have died 15 years ago.

That really, REALLY sucks to have to basically sign your wife's death warrant, but for seven years, fuck. If she's in a "vegetative state" 86 her and be done with it. At that point, it's not like she's going to come out of consciousness and be OK anyway, considering brain/general body damage. It's a tough call, but that takes a lot of courage of her "legal guardian" to pull the plug. F' the state, shouldn't have any inter-action measures what-so-ever.

the underlying premise the republos are making is that a person's life and their body are the property of the state and therefore the state has some "right" to make medical decisions for them.
with our country's rapidly aging population, there are enormous profits to be made keeping people alive in a persistent vegetative state.

making money out of vegetative people... that's cold man.
- fate_redux0
But in this case, no one is really making money. The non-profit hospice she's at spends $80,000 a year from Medicaid keeping her alive.
This is a ridiculous battle the Republicans are fighting, and it will come back to bite them in the ass. Conservatives are about less government control in people's lives.
Bleeding Heart Neo-Cons.

Trust me there is a money issue somewhere.
If its not overcharging at the non-profit, overpaying by the government or elaborated double billed medical payments, it' something monetarialy corrupt.
Not to mention the tax breaks for all that money transferring between institutions or the time/cost spent in monitoring/caring for these patients, be it the equipment or personnel.
It's a strange comparison knowing that Texas has the highest execution rate at 1 person every 2 weeks while he was governor there.

Yeah, Bush was really about promoting "life" when he was frying retards left and right.

soooo true scarabin.
This case annoys me everytime I see it on tv or hear about it, just because it's really difficult to say who has what rights in the life of this woman (or any person).
That's why ppl should make a will, even if they change their mind later.
