iBook or PB?

So I've done some research, saw the "ibook vs. powerbook" thread and have narrowed it down to:
14 inch iBook with SuperDrive
or
12 inch PowerBook with SuperDrive
The comp will be used mostly for freelance web and logo design. So nothing truly graphically heavy that I can forsee. And some web surfing and misc. stuff.
I am leaning towards the iBook at this point but it lacks some features I like. Bluetooth and the DVI output for higher resolutions. Also has a bigger hard drive and a better graphics card that comes with the 12 inch PB.
So help me out. Am I missing some of the obvious benefits/drawbacks of either model?
And, would it be better to get it at a local store (12 inch PB's are sold out in the entire ATL area), apple.com or macmall.
MacMall seems to be running the best promo with free memory, carrying case and printer after rebates.
Thanks,
bB

If you plan on connecting to a second monitor, which you should, get the PB.
- D_Dot0
Seriously! you should get tht before it goes. It's the same price as a 12"pb or a 14"ibook. Just way better

that PB doesnt have a superdrive for DVD burning.. but you can get externals for a good price.. and faster.
and it will save wear and tear on your internal

He must be too busy paynig for the new PB to respond.

That is a pretty good deal. But is that the older processer? And can you tell a difference?
- Donvitoviti0
there is hardley any difference between a 1.33 and 1.5
the biggest thing that you need is RAM
I recommend getting 512 extra for now... then get another 512 chip when you can afford it to bump it up to 1gig totalthat is the most important thing on powerbooks
- Buckyball20
Can you do that once you add it to your cart?
I'd like to add Bluetooth as well.
- D_Dot0
there isn't too big a difference other than the 1.33ghz to 1.5ghz. but I don't think the architecture of the G4 chip is changed. Mostly bus speed that makes the differnce and LOTS of Ram

the other thing that causes hesitation on both models is the release of Tiger. Wondering if I should wait a couple of months until these models start shipping with it.

yeah get the 15". I use mine for everything. My only issue with laptops is that the screen isn't too big. I hate moving tool palettes around to work.
other than that, pb are great.

i had the same dilemma before.
The only diff is the video card. the ibook runs an extrnal monitor in lieu of it's own screen. the pb runs them as dual displays. I am used to a 23", so i figured that any laptop is going to involve sacrificing some work area. Better to be able to use a big external screen when you want to.
also, it only takes 1 stick of RAM, the other is not removable. So figure out whether you want 512 or 1024 right away.TR1

Thanks everyone for the input. I think I've settled on the apple certified 15" 1.33 Ghz PowerBook.
When you go to apple's site and shop your local retail apple store, do they all list the same certified products? Do they actually have those models in the store or do they ship them in from California?
thanks,
bB

the stuff on the site is actually in their warehouse.
If you want a refurb from your local store, you need to ask an employee there. Sometimes they bring them out on the floor, but not often. If you ask them, they will tell you if they have any PBs available, and, if so, which model.TR1

Good call on the 15". The 12" PB is a waste of money compared to the 14" iBook. But you have been warned, PowerBooks get poor wireless reception because they are encased in aluminum. I don't care how many plastic tabs they add to the side of the monitor, the reception is still horrible.

get the powerbook
