what do you SF designers have to say for the Muni? Im moving out there from NYC, and I dont want to drive to work everyday.
What are my chances of not having to?

when i lived in SF, i thought MUNI was great. Of course, i was in high school and it only cost me a quarter back then as a student (i didn't ride it regularly to get a pass). but that was 12-13 years ago.

...and all the drivers have interesting criminal backgrounds.

oh yeah the Muni train is a lot better than the buses.
i used to ride the N line into work before i got a bike.. and it was always very nice. just a little cramped sometimes if you're travelling at rush hour

when one train breaks down, the whole ish goes to hell.
but you can get realtime N line info from your phone!

muni is awesome. apparently they're never on time but they run every 5-15 minutes so you never notice how late they are!
express lines run during certain business hours from certain area to major business area.
there's also bart, too.

its 1.25 /ride now.
you get transfer ticket which you can keep using until they mumble something.

and they go everywhere.

awesome. Dont know where im going yet.
So whats a good neighborhood, close to a muni line?
are there any decent design firms there anymore? any jobs?
- nick0
Cole Valley and Hayes Valley are both super nice imho. The whole Upper Haight/Lower Haight area is pretty cool.
and yeah! lots of job opps... check out the NT employment opportunities for a good start.

theres also craigslist for temp work, but 1/100 is actually a good steady job.
ive lived here 6 months didn't bring a car and it was the best decision i made.
between muni, bart, and the bus system its a breeze. took me all of a week to understand the system too

hey cloned, where di you move from?
- cloned0
wichita, kansas
- troykooper0
how was/is the job search?
- cloned0
i do freelance graphic design work in print/web/video. i moved out here to collaborate with someone in the video field. together we created http://www.rabbitwerks.com/ and it's slow going. if it werent for clients that keep in touch from kansas, i'd be worried but all seems well and we are gaining momentum quickly
if you are a hard worker and don't mind being up early there are plenty of employment opportunities here.
and the people here are the nicest ive ever met as a city

Im trying to find a job now and it's a real pain in the ass. Everyone keeps saying there's lots of opportunities, but from my experience at least, it's really not as easy as it seems.
