I am looking for good websites "liberally" based on editorial, mag, book layouts.
ex: http://www.howry.com
http://www.studiobanks.comany links will be helpful, thanks

nice, but a little too literal. looking for a more creative solution

some nice attention to type and layout, how about some more flash based sites?
The transitions are the main thing that I am looking for, (page, chapter turning stuff)
to create some movement through the space of the book
- blackspade0
just admit it, ..you want that free 'flash page turner' thing right ?
(kidding) :P !!
- GeorgiePorgie0
so youre looking for ebonics versions of sites right?
- puck0
NO. that's what i dont want. This site does a good job of subtle ref. to a newspaper. It's not slapping yuou in the face.
Just trying to get sense of what is 'good' and 'bad' so to know what direction to take, and which ones to stay away from.
thanks for bringing that up though.

fer sure, just teasing

Side note blacksheep. How is the scene in NZ? always wanted to live/work there, but that is a big leap over the pond from the southern US
- GeorgiePorgie0
US to NZ is like UK to Guatemala he he
- blackspade0
hmm ok Georgie,
thats why digital effects for some of the biggest films of past couple years have been done here, right ??
nah, depends where u are Puck
the design scene is all good im my book, u need to be in Wellington or Auckland tho.

Thats the feeling I have gotten from looking into it. Still not sure about the 'real' things in life, like cost of living, pay range, that sort of stuff. Big LOTR fan too, so living in Middle earth would be awsome. teasing/not really/well sort of...haha
- blackspade0
its pretty cheap living here to be honest, (apart from Auckland)
my apartment rent here is $60 a week (so like 35-40 US)
But im at the bottom of the south island...
im sure the pay range would be comparable if u gots the skills! ;)
- blackspade0
(thats for a room, the apartment is 180pw)

Im just talking abuot the move itself, not the culture man
- puck0
Good to know, will have to look into it.
- blackspade0

I find that the best remedy for needing i-SPIRATION is just simply getting out and going somewhere new...
1) Go to a wine bar. You might meet or see some amazing people with a distinct flava that you just might want to reflect in your work...
2) Go to a really neat cafe and sit for a while (an hour or so) & pay attention to your surroundings...do they have outside seating? What's on the walls? Perhaps there is a truly yummy flava (meaning food this time) that inspires you.
3) If you're near SoCal, go to Death Valley (if you are, let me know, I want to go with someone!) because it actually has water right now and looks gorgeous.
THE KEY is to change your ROUTINE & get out of your RUT. Experience something new. I hope that helps.

So...does that negate what you said? I'm actually very interested in going to NZ. I graduate w/ BFA in Visual Communication Design in May, then all is open, i.e. moving to NZ
