Design in Australia??

help!!! I'm a GD student in Toronto dying to explore the design scene in other countries, overall - an excuse to travel. Europe is much to expensive, but what do u guys think of design in Australia???
Any comment on this at all, I'd really appreciate it!

Melbourne seems to be doing nicely at the moment also. Plently of people hiring for both full time and freelance.
We have been interviewing people all week and have seen some great people.

I dont think its a boom, people know the potential/price of the internet now. They wont be dupped again.
Its been a slow growth but i think we're finally being respected as a viable profession again..
