In Firefox / OS X, clicking the form's text field reloads the background image in the upper right - same dimensions of the flash file.
- HTML is valid (very simple)
- Happens regardless of flash file
- No Javascript or CSS is being used.Any ideas, before I go insane???

Don't see an embed src tag in there. Maybe that's fucking it up.
And if you're trying to be standards compliant with Flash, word of advice: Give it up. A list apart even tried to do that and their solution was so buggy I wondered why they even wasted time posting it.

Exact same behavior with or without the EMBED tag.
I thought that EMBED was causing the problem, so I took it out to minimize possibilities.
Here it is with EMBED:

hmmmm...
I'm at a loss.
- davetufts0
it's crazy, right?
surely there are other sites with:
- HTML forms
- Flash
- Background images???

I've had that problem before as well on a very simllar project. I bet no one can figure it out...

form submission reloads the page. so, anything on the page will reload.
i'm sure i understand the problem?
- fusedliving0
yeah but the artifact shows up when you simply click inside the input field. Makes zilch sense.
- sparker0
nothing happens when i focus the text field. it seems normal.
and this:
"i'm sure i understand the problem?"
should be "i'm NOT sure i understand the problem?"

Are you on a mac and on firefox?
- davetufts0
yeah - only happens on Mac OS X with Firefox.
If you just clicking the form's field (don't submit the form)
the background image appears offset in the upper left.

I love developing for FF, but all kinds of bugs are appearing for me. This is new though.
What if you add the bg image with CSS?
body { bgimg }
Have you tried changing from utf-8 to ISO8859?

Firefox has a nasty Flash cache issue - i go and upload some new swfs for my sight, and when i launch FFox to see how it displays, it still shows the the old swf - fucking retarded.
- fusedliving0
confirmed. impossible.
- cloned0
i dunno if its impossible.
i have a submit function on a site im waiting to develop but see if there are any solutions for you in the code there
http://pixeltwins.com/content/co…
every page has the newsletter opt in and there is a contact form that submits as well
my buddy has the mac now so im testing on pc and can't really tell what your problem is
good luck

Cool - you have all the elements on your site:
- flash
- bg image
- form...and your site works fine in Firefox on OS X.
(I'm might have to copy some of your code...)
- fusedliving0
I actually still get the artifact on OSX firefox....i don't get this.
- fusedliving0
Surely other people here must have a site, with a form and a flash movie somewhere on it that has run into this issue....daaaaamn.
- davetufts0
If you don't need your bg tiled both vertically and horizontaly, a background-repeat style fill fix the problem
original problem
http://harveytool.imarc.net/fuck…fixed with stye=background-repeat: repeat-x; in the body tag:
