i just saw this on PBS:
"MSDS is looking for a junior designer with good typographic skills and a clean aesthetic. PLEASE: our studio values classic design style, not trends. Check out our site to see our style and if yours matches
ms-ds.com"And i decide to say:
I think the minimalist approach, what some called "clean design" (please don’t use that word to describe design) has already become a trend it self... minimalist design is a type of design approach... not a single design solution to all. Don’t let the simple visual presentation trick you, If you look harder to many of the “clean, simple minimalist” site, the way they function is not as “clean” as it looks, many other fail some very basic user experience principles. But I think there are few photography sites really did a great job using that approach. Lately, I see many student designers using this minimalist approach for their projects, and I ask “why most of the projects are white background, simple text base navigation, especially the one design for children to learn their ABC’s?” The student answer “because I want to have a good simple design” I ask what do you mean by good simple design” the student reply “one that looks clean”I can’t believe I just type all that...

the word 'classic' in the context of interaction design seems rather inappropriate..

By the way, I’m not saying anything against clean aesthetic (I like them personally), what I’m talking about the way people view it almost as the only design solution lately. Nothing against MSDS, and they did some great work.

I think they are just trying to avoid getting a barrage of emails from wanna be designers republik kids who do all kinds of crazy techno shit that has no relation to the majority of real world briefs.

yea, those who were responsible for "classic design" in the past will be rolling in their tombs when they see this
