get the Canon S70. its cheap mid range...best part...shoots RAW.
Anyone used the RAW plugin for photoshop? its sweeeeet.

I use a Canon IXUS 400 for outdoor digital stuff most of the time, a lomo and holga, and a Canon EOS Elan II - which I'll be upgrading to the Canon 20D soon...

my roomie has one and i use it all the time
it is a sweet camera with grt picture quality. and what not.and not to mention the RAW shooting for the price you can get it for $400...7.1 megapixels and can also shoot lil movies, which are of decent quality.
its a grt mid-range camera for the price...and it looks stylish.

for the price you aren't really going to do any better - get the s70

here are coupel more pics form the camera....sorry for the small size...but even at a small scale i think its apretty decent quality .
