contact the company who's going to embroid it. no seriously. this is not a dis. they really know since it's their business to know. and you then know for 100% that it's gonna work.

yeah, that was my other option, just seein if anyone had any info before i called them up. thanks

before you end up in "but they said...." hell, call them, seriously, they could work differently / need different stuff etc.

there are file formats specifically for embroidery (.ksm, .emd), and it's not something a typical designer will be able to create.
rabattski's right, contact the company and find out which way you can best provide the artwork and they should be able to hook you right up.

sounds like a plan, also anyone know how to cross match pantones. i'm working from a pantone TC book (textile color) for the thread colors, how do i match the same colors for print (silk screen etc.)?
- rabattski0
good question. does pantone make pigments for screen printing? wouldn't surprise me if they would. if so, then they have those tc in pigments as well.

i do a lot of embroidery from stitch & bitch. the skull and crossbones is my favorite

if not, than i'd say mix, write down, test, mix, write down, test, till you got it right and keep that note safe.

yeah, i was hoping trail and error wouldn't be part of the equation

did this last qtr
i printed the artwork in black and white
the embroiderer scans it in and creates another type of file for it for a hefty price (provide them with your font(s))
you choose the thread colors and the machine busts it out
- rabattski0
depends, check with pantone and/or the place where you're going to screen print if there is such thing as tc pantone pigment or not. if not, than it's the hard way (but it's fun though, i test printed a lot of random stuff i took along. underware, caps, wifebeaters, etc.).
