Vest is yet to come frae Rab C
LEGENDARY comedy character Rab C Nesbitt may be preparing for a television comeback.
The three main creators of the string-vested Glaswegian street philosopher have met to discuss a new series.
Writer Ian Pattison, actor Gregor Fisher and producer Colin Gilbert believe enough time has passed since the end of the eighth series in 1999 to make another.
Mr Gilbert, who directed and produced Rab C Nesbitt, said: "We’d very much like to do it. We’ve had a six-year break from it, so there is no reason why it shouldn’t come back.
"Rab is a commentator on life as it is lived and in the last six years enough has happened to give him a whole lot of new things to talk about."
When the workshy drunk returns depends on the new BBC commissioning editor for comedy, who will be based in Glasgow and have £9 million to fund non-London shows.
Mr Gilbert, who is in charge of BBC Scotland’s comedy unit, said of Rab: "He’d be older, his family relationships would be different. It would be a very valid thing to do."
