a friend lives there. she's a developer. she says if you can get past the hurricanes EVERY year and the unbelievable humidity EVERY year you're golden.
she thinks she's only got a year left after the last hurricane season.

yeah, no prob on the weather, I lived in New Orleans for 7 years before I was in NYC. Seems like it will be a good change of pace from the city for sure.
We're moving to South Miami which is near Coral Gables. Seems very chill.
Any other developers or NTers there? Seems like it could be a goldmine of a market?

My partner and I work out of Miami. He is based there, at http://www.elasticpeople.com
The market is pretty open. I also know a couple other designers at farenheit 451 and Frank design.
Let me know if you are looking for something specifically.

letters,
Thanks for the response. I will be bringing a lot of work from NYC and NOLA but I ultimately want to set up shop in Miami for the long haul and that certainly means working locally. Take a look at my site:
http://www.omnibuscreative.com
Let me know if you have any projects that would make a match. If not, thats cool, I would still like to meet up and talk shop, etc.

so.. whats the overall scoop on miami, pretty interesting place to live and work? we are moving because my wife landed a great job there.. we visited a few times to check it out and loved it so it became our first choice pretty quickly... seems like the economy is doing really well. And I hear there are tons of self-employed people...

Miami rocks. If you're in NYC you'll manage easily. Surfside beach really is it. Especially behind the Beach Club on 92nd St or so. And fuck the hurricanes. We get hit with 4 one year and everyone freaks out. What about the other 10 years that nothing ever came around? Andrew was another story. I still remember seeing Ocean Drive and part of Washington Ave covered in sand. Sick.
Welcome to the vibes.

So whats the deal with surfside? Why is it so great?
