  Is there a way to put a greyscale image in InDesign and to turn everything white into transparent and everything that's black to be a colour?

  I hope this makes sense

  Save the image as a bitmap tiff in Photoshop. Place it in your Indesign doc and when you have the image selected using the content tool you will be able to control the foreground colour.
