Adobe Premiere Question

Havent used premiere in a long time.. and iam totally lost here.
Can someone explain this simple fuckin thing that a 5 year old would understand before me.
I want to edit an avi file. I have imported it into premiere, and inserted it into the timeline.. but Iam not getting no preview of the movie clip in the monitors.. anyone know why?Cheers Folks

is the time marker at the beginning of the timeline? u presed play on the monitors? got enuff RAM?

I can see the monitor video clip, but the sequence monitor from the timeline is just ...black.

try double clicking on the clip in the timeline with the arrow tool.

if its divx encoded premeire wont play with it

OKay, thanks Cloned. The the answer.. It will preview the clip though, but your saying it wont play it within a sequence?
what codecs will it play?Cheers

if you can install the proper divx codecs it should allow premiere to functionproperly however i have never been sucessful in editing and exporting it is always black have you exported any sequence to find out if it works yet

It can preview the actual movie clip, but not the sequence..
