Don't forget to set browser.turbo.enabled to true. No kidding.

this probably would work great at home BUT not here at work. They track how often you visit sites and stuff... if when you visit a site you're telling Firefox to make 30 connects to load faster... good lord I can just imagine how many hits the office would record for a day. No thanks, I don't want NT to get blocked at work :)

That was rubbish.
It fucked firefox, and I had to undo it all and reboot to get my internet back... :/

uh oh. sean getti... ah nevermind. I've got some booze somewhere.

AFAIR the old hack was only about pipelining. This seems new: "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and it gave my ff additional speed - no probs yet, W2000SP4
BTW there's a FF 1.01 update

why it's not such a good idea.
"Yes, enabling HTTP pipelining can dramatically improve networking performance. The downside, and the reason it's not enabled by default, is that it can prevent Web pages from displaying correctly. If you've enabled this, and you find pages that aren't displaying correctly, please don't blame Firefox or the Web developer. It's probably the fact that you enabled an "unsupported" feature which is incompatible with some Web servers and proxy servers. "

Sounds about right. Our servers have a max connection, and I'm fairly sure MT would too... It didn't even begin to load NT.., or any sites with frames.
- brains0
details, you guys windows or mac ? I haven't had one problem. NT loads fine. just really fast. any site with frames works fine too.. more details ?

There's a new one
Set
cowbell.more.enabled
to true
It really makes a difference!
- rabattski0
haha, this type of hack reminds me of a fridge magnet i got which says: drink coffee. do stupid things faster with more energy.
- D_Dot0
hehe, I got a fever and the only cure is more cowbell.
- mevsthem0
ahh fack that warning don't sond good. no troubles yet though...
- rabattski0
i think you'd be fine but just keep it in the back of yer head before you go like, whoah, that site's broke! me clients site is kaputt! alarm! alarm! :)
- brains0
oh boo hoo, a firefox reload, just back up your bookmarks. live on the edge !
- brains0
this is why we all use multiple browsers.. juuuust in case.
- rabattski0
firefox usage is living on the edge? really? whoah. must stop basejumping then and start surfing the net with firefox then! harcore dangerous living! :)
firefox on mac sucks big times anyways. so does safari. but less as firefox.
- rabattski0
i'm happy it's standard disabled though. i mean if you understand it, like you, you'd use all browsers as you said anyways, and you're aware. but imagine if standard household users would do it? helpdesking would be a nightmare.
- brains0
man, I worked doing roadrunner helpdesk for 8 months. THAT, my friend, was a nightmare.
- brains0
I'm about to give it a try.

holy fuck abizzy !
