Just got back from visiting "A" town this weekend. Loved it!
How much do designers make in Atlanta?

- GeorgiePorgie0
not enough
- Clear0
well I figure that's probably anywhere.
If I wanted to make REAL money I guess I could have been a lawyer or a doctor.

think it's alright.
My portfolio needs to be redone though. I haven't touched it in probably a year or two.

what up Rami! :)
long time no see...
back when i was in atlanta.. i was making around $50k doing production / animation work..
contracting is the way to go in atlanta.. stable salaried positions are almost impossible to find.. as no one needs someone long term anymore..
i ended up moving to chattanooga and got stable work up here..

Hmm... Yeah, I design websites, posters, presentations... etc... hell at my current job I even run audio/visual stuff at conferences.

full time freelance? Man, think my hair would turn all grey in no time if I had to do that.

so did she do well in the interview?
atlanta is a business city .. you can find good paying jobs on your terms as long as you have the skillz!

I work non-profit in ATL and make a lowly Forty. Contracting is the way to go here. Contractors here make almost twice what I make. Go through Aquent or Creative Group.

also check out 'the talent zoo'
they have actual jobs

Yeah, my gf did great in her interview at Emory. She should know if the next week or so whether she got in. I spent Friday driving around and checking out the area... then went down to Peachtree and looked around there. Even saw the sushi place you mentioned. Ended up taking her to a small french restaurant

well ... that's a big move. i'm sure everything will work out in your favor.
best of luck with it all!

thanks!
Guess now I have to start saving the $ and clean up a portfolio.
- opiate0
be a contractor. up to $50 an hour

I hope the cost of living is really low in Atlanta, cause 50/hour ain't shit in my urban wasteland.

Just moved here for a new job. Salary is good, but cost of living here is MUCH better here than my last three cities (DC, NY and SF). Lots of decent companies in the area too.
Still miss livin in the north, tho....ATL is a island of blue in a see of red. (and sorry if I'm introducing poilitics into this, but true is true...)
