Hey, questions for the fine arts experienced.. I've done a few projects in pastels and found that I work pretty well with them, but now I'm looking to take it a bit fruther. I'm wondering if anyone knows what other mediums pastels can be combined with. Anyone with experience with this stuff?

you can use pastels with watercolors and get some really nice effects. of course you want to wait until the paint is dry before you ad the pastels :P also make sure you spray your work with a fixant of some sort so it doesn't smudge. i have even used hair spray before and it works pretty good.

depends on the pastel brand. and composition. combine them with different rough surface papers. only watercolor pastels can combine with watercolors

if you paint a picture with water colors you can wait until it is dry and then ad whatever pastels you want to the paper. they don't need to be watercolor pastels, unless you want to blend the two together which can be cool too.

turpentine, water, acryllic paint, you can mix just about anything with pastels right on the paper to get different effects! get a nice heavy paper and go!
