I've done some design work as freelance, and never thought about the fact that I use my nickname on the site's credit, Macaso, but there's a design company named Macaso Media out of Virginia also:

What are the legal issues related to this, I think they use it as a business name, but the name is also my nickname, is this a problem?

Well, I guess it depends on who was using it in the design world first, who has it registered... Conceivably they could accuse you of using their brand to promote your own work, I suppose, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Can you tell I'm no lawyer?

Well, they've been offering services before me, I'm a computer tech as well, so everybody I know online, and offline refers to me as Macaso when dealing with IT services or design.
