Trying to publish a 42mb flash presentation with loads of voice over audio (AIFF) and it gets so far along on the blue bar and then just sits their and eventually crashes my machine, tried loads of different way of publishing it ie taken the audio out, copied and pasted everything into a new doc but nothing seems to work... Has anybody had this problem and is their a solution?
Urgent, please help!!!
cheers

flash is a terrible memory whore... if you dont have a powerful machine, with lots of mem, its going to crash everytime (unfortunatly), what type of system are you using?

42 mb?????????
Why no jist mek it 42GB instead????
SWF = SMALL web format = nae built tae cope wi' files that size.
brek it intae bits an' use AS tae "stitch" it together again

I am using a powermac G5 loads of memory and stuff. The dodgy thing is that I produced Italian versions of these presentation modules a couple of weeks ago in excactly the same way and they worked fine...

have you tried rebooting, and then running nothing but flash, compiling right away? sounds stupid but flash is terrible on macs, i find it eats up mem fast and and 42meg file is absurd.
is this 42meg file something you plan to distribute on the web? if so you'd be better off exporting to video and compressing it to make it a feasible download for the average user.

can't you break up the fla into smaller swfs and load them into levels in your main projector or swf?

OK guys, I agree with the file size issue but I am taking over a project that has been on-going for a while and just doing new language versions, the Italian version worked fine... Maybe flash just doesn't like German!!! When compressed the swf file is only a meg or too and it is for laptop presentations and (at the moment) not designed for the web... The animation is all vector (no video) its just the 5-10 minute voice over segments that push up the file sizes...
Don't ave a go at me lads, just doing what I am told!!!
Cheers for you advice though!!!

(Feb 25 05, 02:16)that's what MM (and me) would recommend.
Or load the sounds wi' ASan keep yer SWF small.
looking fer a solution that'll work reliably wi' yer fat file is gonnae be like tattooing the inside o' yer eyelids...
painful an' pointless.

has the voiceover been compressed before you've imported it?
