I'm going to go with a big no on that one. I don't know what it could be, but I haven't heard anything about the browser killing a profile unless it deserved it. Too many deviant surfing habits? ;)
The *only* thing I can think of is you have spawned multiple sessions and it wants you to pick/create a different profile. That would be pretty obvious, though, and wouldn't kill an existing profile.

This has happend to me before, a couple of times. I noticed a pattern relating to certain websites I had visited just as that happend. At first I solved this problem by restarting my computer before I created a new profile.
I also discoverd this to be caused by a virus named "DDOS.BOXED.F" I use TrendMicro free online virus scan to kill it. You'll have to do this by hand from the REGEDIT prompt, and you'll have to use IE to run the free software.
Hope that helps

fuck, I've yet to experience that - that blows, dude!

It's not really that big of a deal. If you take care of it right away you shouldn't have a problem.
Just don't makle the new profile and restart. It should start in your previous profile, at which point you can snap the virus before it snaps you.

Remove the Firefox browser and install Internet Explorer.

dude... close that box if it comes up again...
... if you're on a PC - do a control-alt-delete and you should see that even though you think you closed firefox - it's probably still running in your 'processes' tab.
Click on that process and and end it... then open firefox again - you should be good to go w/your saved profile.
if you're on a mac (and I've never seen this issue on a mac... just on pc's)... I don't know what to tell you.

Yes, FF will still be running. That's what DDOS.BOXED.F does. Hijacks your browser to attack certain websites.
