Repair Permissions.
- james-0
that really really sucks
- anzelina0
repairing permissions really will help?
- Meeklo0
Always repair permission after and before any updates..
you should actually do it at least once every 2 weeks or so
- theshank0
how do you "repair permissions"?
- one2meny0
goto disk utility and select repair permissions.
- anzelina0
so i repaired the permissions and i still have the ugly icon.
sigh.
any other way to change it?
- theshank0
thanks!
- theshank0
yup, now my ipod icon looks generic. it's just not right!

Go download some cooler iPod icons from here:
- smellvetica0
run the ipod software restore.. it'll put it back. itunes should start it automatically after you wipe the ipod.. i usually do mine once every 3 months.

WARNING: restoring iPod software erases everything on your iPod!!!
- theshank0
hmm. erase my ipod and get nice icon? or leave ipod alone and have generic icon?
i have to be a designer and say, need a nice icon! sucks though. more work :)

Don't update or erase...do what Gilt said (find a sweet new icon). Select your iPod Icon, do a get info...keep that window open.
Select your new icon, get info, click on the icon preview, copy. Close that window.
Go back to your iPod get info window...select your old ugly icon and paster...Bingo!
New icon!

exactly what pocho said.

You don't have to get info on the icon file, just copy it straight from the Finder. That should save you, what, 5 seconds? Enjoy.

uh- eject it- then plug it back in...
