So I'm graduating early 2006 and I'm starting to consider moving to another city. Anyone have input as to a city that is soul-searchin', design-inspiring, economicaly-blessed, good-for-newly grad, etc.
I'd like to hear what you guys think is a really good city for a newly grad designer ...

Thinking london or paris, but not sure about the financial part while I settle in, find job, etc. Think it'd be a rough start? Guess I'm way ahead of myself though, I just want suggestions so I can start researching/dreaming.

ah, I thought you only meant within the US.
If you're willing to travel, try looking into Sydney, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore. I can personally vouch for the greeness of the grass and the prettiness of the girls in these cities. ;)
Also, they're not expensive to live in, at least compared to some places in the US.

If you're up to it, apply/intern at a international agency (JWT, McCann, Omni) let them move you around the world.

Yuck Yuck Kona..
Actually...you're safer in Detroit than Chicago(murder rate)...less people walking around in leather pants too.

bastard.
:)

Ironically I lived in Chicago(Bucktown) for my first few years out of college, I recommend it.

haha. Bucktown. Nice area. I know it well.
Ironic indeed.
