Anyone been watching this UFC competition show? I've seen a few so far and pretty into it. I don't look at those guys like idiots or barbarians, in fact I kind of put them on the same level as people on The Apprentice - they're totally dedicated to going after what they want and obviously it takes tremendous skill.
If you read the UFC rules, there's so much stuff you have to keep track of while fighting - it's actually more regulated than I thought.
So anyone else watching?

Used to wakeboard with a guy that did mixed-martial arts and kickboxing, and I think he had a goal to try out for UFC. Gut was built like a tank.

I sparred with the ICE man once. Good ol Chuck Liddell. I was studying at Johnathon Lewis' Jujitsu school here in Vegas like 4 years ago when in walks Chuck. He had fought one UFC fight at that time and I think he wasn't even on TV...there is usually one or two undercards that don't get filmed for PPV.
So they told him to spar with me simply because I was his weight. Dude was really really nice...he choked me out for like an hour straight. I had only been doing jujitsu for about a month...nice guy though, tough as nails.

Yeah i have been tunning in to that show on monday night. Total suprise that i would get sucked in. The bout last night between josh and chris was long overdue and intense. I do not know all that much about the sport as a whole but the show has started me on my way. Sort of like what the first season of tough enough and behind the mat did for me and wrestling. Developed a whole new respect for those guys.

galic_gato, I'm the same way. I've known about UFC for years because friends used to have the videos.
That fight last night, I was hoping it would have been more intense, but it was silly for Chris to complain about Josh holding him to the mat for the win. That's part of that style of fighting! If you're game isn't set up to defend from the floor and get out of a submission, then you need to work on your game!

You know what i found funny was the serious amount of trash talking that kid chris did before he got into the ring. Total bravado. And than he gets his chance to be agressive and win a fight and he just dances around the ring afraid to get close because he know that josh would lock him up. It was a good match up.

I hear that Lidell is the nicest guy in the world. Also the last guy I would ever want to fuck with from what I've seen him do. I kinda don't like the UFC just because there are so many rules. It's been toned down quite a bit since it's debut, I think mainly to please critics and gain a wider audience. Those tourney's they have over seas are nuts I heard.

He did do alot of talking, saying he was going to paralyze him, knock his jaw across the ring and cover it in blood, have josh crying to the paramedics.
I bet when josh saw the footage of all that he laughed for hours.

Just watched Monday night's episode. I think that Bobby should have won, but 1000x more than that I wish they would have gone to a third round. Man I was pissed they didn't.

I met Tito Ortiz once in a nightclub, a few days after Chuck Liddell kicked his ass at UFC... Both of his eyes were blue.
Does anyone watch Pride Fighting Championships? I love watching any fight with Mirko CroCop, he knocks everyone out with a left-leg kick to the face. The guy looks unbeatable right now.

I watched one episode. I thought the show was pretty bad. Kind of like the UFC itself, lots of fluff and then a whole lot of non-excitment.
Pride on its worst day is still better then UFC.

Kind of cool that it's not PPV either.

Just incredible that instantly at least a few people, including the ring announcer, said that was the best UFC fight they had ever seen. And pretty awesome that Stephan got a contract as well.
